Dr Rubayyat Hashmi PhD (Queensland), MSc. (Texas), MSS (Dhaka)
I am a health economist/economist (FOR —140208 Health Economics, 1402 Applied Economics, and 1117 Public Health and Health Services). My broad research interest is in health, society, and welfare. My PhD research focuses on the health equity domain of health economics. I have developed methods for assessing fairness in mental health and health care use in Australia. Recently, I have joined at the Australian Centre for Housing Research (ACHR), The University of Adelaide, as a NHMRC grant funded research fellow (ECR) in June 2023. Prior to joining ACHR, I held academic and research positions at the School of Advertising, Marketing & PR, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) (worked a s a Research Associate: 1.5 years) under Professor Byron Keating and at School of Business, University of Southern Queensland as an Adjunct Research Fellow from February 2023. I have 5 years of teaching experience at the Department of Economics of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). In addition, I am familiar with Australian teaching environment through my experience at University of Southern Queensland (marking, tutoring, curriculum development, managing online learning system etc.) I am an approved and trained user of big secured datasets such as the National Health Survey (NHS) of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) and the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) of the National Centre for Longitudinal Data (NCLD). My work has been published in leading journals including PharmacoEconomics, Health Policy, Quality of Life Research, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology, PLoS ONE, Journal of Cleaner Production etc. I have worked for funded research projects with international collaborations of researchers in the USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Bangladesh and scholars worldwide have incorporated my research discoveries into their academic publications, personal blogs, and online social media. My work has received the ‘USQ publication excellence award 2020’ and ‘USQ Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research, 2021’.
