My research journey began with a PhD in Economics from the University of Southern Queensland, where I explored key economic dimensions of mental health and healthcare access in Australia, with a focus on inequality, inequity, and wellbeing. Prior to that, I completed a master’s in economics at Texas A&M University in the United States, following my undergraduate and postgraduate studies in economics at the University of Dhaka. My early research focused on applied microeconomics, particularly in the areas of health, labour, and environmental economics, and gradually evolved into multidisciplinary work that intersects economics with public health, housing, climate change, and social policy. My professional academic career spans several institutions, including Queensland University of Technology and the University of Southern Queensland, and I am currently based at the Australian Centre for Housing Research (ACHR) at the University of Adelaide as an NHMRC-funded early career fellow. There, I lead research projects on energy poverty, household wellbeing, and mental health. My work applies the tools of economics—especially econometric modelling and policy analysis—to large-scale longitudinal data, aiming to generate evidence that informs both economic thinking and public policy, and ultimately aims to improve population health and social outcomes.
